About the show

We were asked by the German Environmental Aid to support their #Böllerciao campaign with a sustainable alternative to fireworks. For this purpose, the German Environmental Aid invited the press, politicians, and influencers to the Cantian Stadium in the heart of Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg. We launched 150 of our drones to demonstrate that New Year's Eve can also be beautiful without firecrackers.

Project description

The request

The German Environmental Aid (Deutsche Umwelthilfe) approached us as a non-profit organisation to support their campaign #Böllerciao. The campaign aims to enforce a fireworks ban on New Year's Eve. To this end, the German Environmental Aid wants to demonstrate that there are sustainable alternatives to fireworks that produce no waste and do not harm animals through noise. A drone show is, of course, a perfect solution for this. We showcased that New Year's Eve can be incredible even without fireworks.

The preparation

The German Environmental Aid wanted to achieve maximum visibility for their influencer event in Berlin. Therefore, we faced the challenge of finding a location that, on one hand, had enough space to meet all safety requirements within the urban area of Berlin, and on the other hand, provided great public visibility. The Cantian Stadium was the perfect venue for these requirements. The show was observed by many passers-by and residents from their windows. The German Environmental Aid requested a mix of New Year’s greetings, animals and plants, and slogans from the campaign as motifs.

The realisation

We arrived at the stadium four hours before the show and set up our equipment, calibrating the drones. Since the stadium is used as a public running track during the day, it was a requirement that we not close the stadium too early. However, as our setup was self-sufficient and did not hinder anyone, this was not a problem. We only need a small prepared area for our shows. Larger areas must only be closed off during the show, which lasts a maximum of 15 minutes. This often reassures property owners or authorities. The preparations went smoothly, and the film crew from the German Environmental Aid documented the process. After a brief coordination with the photographers for the best viewing area, we started on time. All the guests present were thrilled, and we noticed that even residents were watching intently from their apartment windows.

The Conclusion

The German Environmental Aid was very pleased with the show, particularly with the media attention it received. There were numerous articles in major newspapers and on social media. We were happy to support this worthy cause and be part of such an important message. Especially through the ability to display text and logos, we accurately convey the client's message into the sky. This helped give the campaign the necessary boost. Once again, it was evident that drone shows still attract significant attention from the press. Thanks to the drone show, there was a lot of media attention in the press and on social media:
